| LESSON 11 LEADERSHIP COMMENTS Several prominent leaders and leadership scholars have focused our attention on the importance of dynamic and effective leadership. These leaders come from a wide spectrum of experience, including the business world, academia, and the political scene. Without much comment the following slides make a powerful argument for better leadership. In most cases, by substituting the word church for society or organization one can see how important these thoughts are for church leadership. The first slide, however, deserves some comment! Times have not changed much since 1790 and the early days of the new American nation. For those not familiar with the persons mentioned in the chart, we should note that Abigail Adams was the wife of John Adams, and early President of the United States, and Thomas Jefferson was one of the original framers of the United states Constitution, perhaps better known as the one responsible for the first draft of the United States Constitution, and later President of the United States. The days of the young nation were trying and difficult, demanding bold and courageous leadership. Many situations in church life, likewise demand wise and courageous leadership.
