LESSON 1

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS

This page serves only to introduce you to me, the developer of these lessons!
As you have possibly by now learned from the Student Information, I am Dr. Ian A. Fair.

I am taking the time to introduce myself so you can understand my interest and experience in Leadership and Leadership Development.

I was converted to Christ by an American Missionary, Dr. Robert H. (Tex) Williams in 1959.
I began working in ministry and mission work in 1960.

I received my biblical and theological training at Abilene Christian University, where I received a BA in Bible and psychology.  I received an MA and a BA Honors (the equivalent of an MDiv in the USA), and a PhD degree from the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

I served as a missionary in south Africa for 14 years, and have preached for 42 years.
for 34 years I served as an instructor and professor in the Natal School of Preaching, the Sunset School of Preaching, and Abilene Christian University.  I was a professor of Bible and ministry at Abilene Christina University for 23 years, during which time I served as the Dean of the College of Biblical Studies for 14 years.

I have been conducting Leadership Seminars for the past 15 years.

I am presently working with the Center for Church Enrichment producing materials for Church Enrichment.

My experience has been with small mission churches that operated without Elders, with small churches in the United States both with and without Elders, and with large mega-churches in the United States who have multiple Elders and Ministers.

I served as an Elder with the South 11th and Willis Church of Christ in Abilene Texas for approximately 8 years.

In 1996 I published a text book on leadership, Leadership in the Kingdom, which has been used as a textbook in leadership in several universities, colleges, and seminaries.

I have over the last several years conducted on an average approximately 20 leadership seminars each year.  These seminars have been in small and large churches in most states in the USA and in several foreign countries.
