CONGREGATIONAL ORGANIZATION

This series of charts demonstrates several ways in which a congregation may be organized.

We do not recommend the Traditional form of Leadership
The Teamwork model has some advantages
We prefer the Participative Model

TRADITIONAL AUTHORITARIAN MODEL

This model is characterized by Elder Control and does not meet Participative Leadership guidelines.
The model will function only in immature congregations
The danger of this model is that it leads to congregational apathy and eventually a dysfunctional congregation.

TEAMWORK MODEL 1

TEAMWORK MODEL 2

This model is preferred in some instances to Teamwork Model 1
It places the Elders as a ministry team within the congregation alongside the other ministry teams
and approximates more the Participative model of Leadership

PARTICIPATIVE MODEL

This Participative Model of Leadership demonstrates that the Elders function as a leadership team with other leadership teams
However, this model demonstrates the shepherding and coordinating function of the Elders in equipping and nurturing the congregation and other leadership teams

PARTICIPATIVE LEADERSHIP AND MINISTRY

This Participative Model of Leadership and Ministry demonstrates a mutual ministry model in which each member or leader is seen functional as ministering to other leaders and members.

PARTICIPATIVE BODY MODEL OF LEADERSHIP

This Biblical Participative Model of the body/church/congregation demonstrates that each member, regardless of ministry or leadership role, functions as serving the body in individual ministry services.

MINISTRY LEADERS

This chart illustrates how ministry can be allocated to different ministry groups within the congregation.
