REVISIONING THE  LORD'S SUPPER
AS
THE EUCHARIST

This study is the text of three lessons presented by Dr. Ian A. Fair at the 2004 Abilene Christian University Lectureship

The purpose of this study is to deepen understanding of the Lord's Supper as a major theological aspect of Christian worship.

In Churches of Christ The Lord's Supper is considered an essential ingredient to Scriptural worship in the assembly on Sunday, along with Singing (a cappella), Prayer, a Sermon, and Giving (contribution).

Churches of Christ believe that the church should offer the Lord's Supper every Sunday.

It is our conviction that whereas Churches of Christ are correct in regard to the formal acts of worship and include the Lord's Supper as part of that formal concern, Churches of Christ on the whole have a poor or shallow understanding of the real theological nature of the Lord's Supper.

If Churches of Christ have some theological understanding of the Lord's Supper, we believe it is "out of focus" and needs deeper examination and "refocus"!

The theological understanding will, therefore, be the major theme of this study.

For this reason we have titled these lessons Revisioning the Lord's Supper as Eucharist.
