In this study we will examine
what is variously known in Church circles as:
The Lord's Supper
The Eucharist
The Communion
The Mass
This study is in two parts:
We encourage you to begin
by surveying the
Introductory Lesson which covers the topic of The
Lord's Supper in survey form and provides a conceptual
framework for the Advanced Lesson.
The
Advanced Lesson is a detailed historical and theological study of
the Lord's Supper and its place in the Liturgy (Worship) of the Christian church
through the centuries.
The
Advanced Study will in some places be technical and refer to resources
with which a beginning student may not be familiar.
The Advanced Study will also examine in some detail how the Lord's
Supper is experienced in various denominations.
Emphasis will be placed on the Passover
texts in the Old Testament and the Lord's Supper texts in the New
Testament.
