Access to Electronic Databases for Off-Site/Distance Education Students

All ACU students, whether living in or outside of the city of Abilene, have access to resources and services provided by the ACU Brown Library.  Students in our off-site classes have access to the Brown Library's Online catalog of holdings and electronic databases.  The latter include a number of resources (primarily journal articles) which are available in full-text.

All patrons, including non-students, can search the Brown Library's Online catalog for holdings and finding helps for using the collection (see below).  However, off-campus students who wish to make use of any of the library's subscription based services, including critical indexes and full-text databases, must first obtain an ACU student username and password.
Students can do so by contacting the Team 55 offices at the following address:
http://team55.acu.edu/

After acquiring a username and password, students can access the library's resources at the following address:  www.acu.edu/library/proxy.html

The Brown Library home page provides access to a rich variety of electronic databases.  Resources are largely organized into two main groups: citation databases and full-text resources.  For example, the link to the library's Online card catalog (ALCON), is located under "Citation Databases"; the best collection of indexes and full-text articles for theological studies (ATLAS) is found under Full-Text Resources.  In addition to the two major groupings described above, resources are also arranged by subject discipline.  Look under "Research Helps", and select "Resources by Department".  Selecting "Bible" leads one to the following list of resources (see http://www.acu.edu/academics/library/reference/ressubj.html#bib  )
